We are fortunate to work with so many talented wedding vendors and each one has their own unique style or touch. Sometimes we get to work with people we 100% just ‘click’ with and inspire us and we love sharing some of those folks with you!
Today we wanted to feature Emily Elizabeth Events. Emily has an amazing style, impeccable attention to detail, and is so fun and creative!
Emily got her experience planning high profile academic events for Bowdoin College (her alma mater). She still works for them part-time managing the president’s house and their events. She is a Maine native and currently resides in Portland.
We asked Emily to share a few things with us so you could learn more about her too.
You have a beautiful style and each event you do is so unique. What inspires you?
Thank you! I always say my work is a collaboration with my couples – they inspire me. I like to think my work has a signature look and feel, but I strive to personalize each event so that it has its own unique flavor, specific to the couple.
What are some of your favorite trends you see coming up?
I don’t think about trends too much. If something beautiful becomes popular, I’m of course into it, but if it’s truly lovely, it will continue to be so for a long, long time to come – not just this year or next year.
Do you have a special event you have done with us before that left an impression on you?
I really loved the 40th-anniversary party I planned at The Maine Boathouse this summer. It was just 18 guests, a really sweet family from Nebraska. We had a lot of fun with the details – flower crowns and boutonnieres for all, Maine children’s books and dot by dot lighthouse activity sheets for the kiddos, anniver-sangria for the signature cocktail, custom cocktail napkins, stirrers, and bibs, hand-lettered menus on enamel charger plates, novelty cakes and hand pies for dessert, and more. The setting was perfect… we used the patio as well as an itty bitty sailcloth tent on the lawn. Big Tree catered and provided an amazing lobster bake spread.
What is your magical moment in the planning process? What is the part you like the most?
Getting the photos back after it’s all over! It’s an enormous effort to plan, design, and execute a wedding, so I love the reward of seeing the couple so happy and relaxed on the day-of and then being able to savor the photos and memories afterward.
Thank you, Emily, for your inspired and elegant events! We look forward to working with you a lot more in the future! You can connect with Emily on her website, Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.
