One of our first 2014 weddings is right around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited! In this new blog series we’ll be introducing you to the couples who will be getting married at Hardy Farm this year, giving you some insight as to how they met, why they chose Hardy Farm and what to expect from their upcoming celebrations!

First up is Alex and Erin, who are getting married at the Farm on May 24, 2014.

HF: Tell us your engagement story!

A&E: We met through mutual friends five and a half years ago.  We live in Gorham, Maine with our two dogs (Lincoln and Lolah), three cats and chickens. Alex proposed last June literally in Lake George, New York while we were enjoying a long weekend away riding Harleys through the white mountains with some friends.

We had stayed in a small lodge on Lake George the night we got into town.  The following morning we had breakfast and were going to pack up to continue on with our trip. Before we left Alex insisted that we take a few pictures from the small beach and dock with the mountains behind us.  We walked to the end of the dock to pose for a picture and after taking a few, Alex took my hand and said, “I have something to ask you”.  I was completely shocked.  As he continued to get down on one knee he reached in his pocked and removed the ring box. As he started to propose, he opened the box and the ring went flying! It hit the boards of the dock and proceeded to fall into the lake. Our friends ran down to the dock and began looking in the water as Alex and I looked on in disbelief.  After a few seconds our friend spotted it 3 feet below the surface, sparkling in the sand.  Alex stripped down to his shorts and carefully went into the lake to retrieve my ring! He continued his proposal from the water as I knelt down on the dock. The rest is history, and we now have the best proposal story ever. What’s even better is we have the pictures to prove it!

HF: Wow! What a story! Tell us about your wedding…

A&E: We are anticipating 175 guests and will have a “rustic/diy” wedding with light pink and gray tones.

HF: Why did you choose Hardy Farm to get married?

A&E: We fell in love with Hardy Farm the first time we saw it on the website and knew that we had to see it in person. Once we were there it just felt so perfect and was almost too good to be true. The setting is very “us” and we are excited to spend the whole weekend with our wedding party and family.  The barn, house and lodge are so nicely done we cannot wait for our family and friends to arrive for our wedding weekend! It could not be more perfect. It has also been such a pleasure working with Deborah and Greg. They made the process very stress-free and easy. We were excited to attend their wedding showcase last month, where we were able to meet with some local vendors and even won the raffle in the end, which we are so grateful for.

HF: What vendors can we expect to see on your wedding day?
