Next up in our Hardy Farm Couple series is Ali and Ben. These two lovebirds are getting married on July 5, 2014. After meeting in 2009 at the University of Leeds in England, sharing a first kiss on Valentine’s Day, and dating for six  months, Ben was offered a job in Amsterdam.  He asked Ali to go with him, and she said “yes!”. Two years later he asked her to marry him, and her reply was the same. They’ve now been together for four years and living in Amsterdam for most of that time. They are looking forward to getting married and continuing their adventures around the world!

We caught up with them to get some more details on their wedding…

Why Hardy Farm? As Ben is British and I’m American, our families live quite far apart and have never met. So we wanted to fine an inn-style wedding venue where our loved ones could come together, relax, get to know each other, and of course celebrate! We were originally going to get married in Scotland, as we were struggling to find the right venue in Maine. But then we came across Hardy Farm, which was beautiful, accommodating, and within our budget! Finding Hardy Farm really was a brilliant stroke of luck!

Working with Deborah and Greg: Deborah and Greg are amazing. There are lots of wedding vendors out there who are very regimented and business-like. Deborah and Greg are very Maine – they’re friendly, personal and super accommodating.  When we first reached out to inquire about getting married at Hardy Farm, we asked a long list of questions. We were so happy to find that there were no ‘catches’ at hardy Farm as we found with many other venues. I cannot recommend working with Deborah and Greg enough!

Tell us about your wedding: We anticipate between 70 and 80 guests. The inspiration for our wedding is a romantic summer evening. There will be lots of light peach and white, a bright pop of playful summer color, and a sprinkle of gold.

We’re working with Meredith Brockington for photography. She’s a very talented natural light photographer who works for LL Bean. We’re having a good old fashioned Maine BBQ for dinner, and we are working with Famous Dave’s for grilling and Chef’s Market for salads, bread and appetizers. George Parker will provide music. He’s a one man band who will play guitar for our ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner, and then DJ/MC the party in the barn later in the night. We are renting cocktail tables, linens and place settings from Party Plus in Biddeford. My wedding dress is from Andrea’s in Portland, Maine, and Ben will wear a kilt from Scotland!! We will also be using the tables, chairs, bar and tent provided by Hardy Farm for our reception!

Thank you so much to Ali and Ben for talking with us. If you’re interested in reading more about Ali and Ben, their experience with Hardy Farm, or their wedding planning details, check out Ali’s Blog Pressed Words
