There’s something about St. Patrick’s Day that feels right at home at Hardy Farm. Maybe it’s the idea of luck, or the feeling of gathering with the people you love most, or simply the joy of celebrating something meaningful together. Whatever it is, this time of year always reminds us of one of our favorite traditions here on the farm — being lucky in love.

When we first began hosting weddings at Hardy Farm, we wanted to create something lasting — a way to honor not only the history of the barn, but also the couples who would begin their stories here. Inspired by the horseshoe that has long hung over the barn door as a symbol of good fortune, we started a tradition: each couple signs a horseshoe and hangs it in the rafters, leaving behind a small piece of their wedding day.

Over time, those horseshoes have become something truly special. They line the barn as a quiet reminder of the many celebrations, families, and moments that have taken place here. Couples often return years later to find their horseshoe, sometimes with children in tow, reliving the memories of their wedding weekend and the beginning of their life together. It’s a simple tradition, but one that carries so much meaning.

St. Patrick’s Day is often associated with luck, but we’ve come to believe that love is something deeper than chance. It’s found in the thoughtful details, the shared laughter, the quiet moments, and the gathering of friends and family. It’s built over time — and celebrated in places that hold those memories.

At Hardy Farm, we feel incredibly fortunate to witness so many of these beginnings. Each wedding adds another story to the barn, another horseshoe to the rafters, and another reminder that being “lucky in love” is really about connection, commitment, and the people you share it all with.
