It is always a joy and privilege when we are able to reconnect with our couples after their weddings! We were lucky enough to spend the afternoon with Kate and James last week, when they journeyed back to Hardy Farm to celebrate their 10th anniversary. It was so much fun to gather on a warm, autumn day, as the foliage was nearing peak in the western Maine mountains, and walk down memory lane with this sweet and adventurous couple.
They say that the couple that plays together stays together, and Kate and James are proving that’s true! Back in October of 2013, this fun-loving duo started their wedding festivities with a pre-wedding bootcamp, led by a fellow personal trainer and close friend of James. The morning of the wedding, friends and family ventured outside to the grassy lawn to greet the crisp, fall morning and join the bride and groom in a conditioning workout that included a lot of hustle, sweat and laughter. What a fun way to bring wedding guests together!
The wedding, itself, was a heartfelt ceremony, with the bride and groom exchanging vows beneath the vine-covered arbor on the courtyard, followed by a beautiful barn wedding reception, with seasonal touches of rustic elegance. We loved how the textures of burlap and bittersweet met with flickering candlelight, and the stunning, diminutive white pumpkins really complimented the whitewashed walls in the barn. Guests thoroughly enjoyed not only the wedding, but their time at the Hardy farm property making memories all weekend long; coming together in a variety of ways for a wedding weekend to remember.
Kate said: “To be honest, the night and the entire weekend were just magical. It was so wonderful to have our families be part of a “wedding weekend” rather than just a quick night that’s over in the blink of an eye. James’ family stayed at the Lodge and my family stayed at the Farmhouse and between the two we were able to house a great deal of people. We hosted breakfast at the Farmhouse, rehearsal dinner at the Lodge and of course the reception in the Barn. It was amazing 🙂 Several times since we left we have discussed what future events we could have at the property!”
We were excited to pop open a bottle of bubbly for Kate and James to toast this milestone, and to take a few photos of this happy couple. They were eager to walk around the Hardy Farm grounds and see the additions to the property since their wedding took place. They loved the woodland chapel and outer courtyard/firepit area. Finding their horseshoe (one of first “lucky in love” horseshoes in the barn), while checking out all of the newer horseshoes added since their wedding, was a highlight of the visit for them. And, we absolutely loved learning what they’ve been up to over the last 10 years! Very exciting to find out that they own a fitness studio (with another couple) called Crisp in Scarborough, Maine. Website Instagram Facebook Carrying on in the spirit of their wedding morning festivities, James is a bootcamp instructor, as well as a cycle instructor, at Crisp. Kate continues working at IDEXX, as a Global Programs Prioritization & Development Manager. Their sons are now 18 and 20! The happy family lives in Saco, Maine with their 2 dogs, a cat and a lizard.
We truly love to stay in touch with our couples! Please drop us a line to check in, or better yet, come back to Fryeburg, and visit Hardy Farm!
