Fall in Maine is full of magic—the crisp air, the scent of woodsmoke, and the vibrant colors that make Hardy Farm come alive. It’s also one of our favorite times to get creative with wedding desserts. While a classic cake never goes out of style, autumn opens up so many delicious possibilities for couples who want to surprise and delight their guests with something unique and seasonal.
At Hardy Farm, we’ve seen couples put together incredible dessert displays that reflect their personalities and love of Maine’s flavors. Donuts are always a hit, whether stacked high as a “donut cake” or displayed on a rustic wall for guests to grab alongside a mug of hot cider. Cake pops are another crowd-pleaser—bite-sized, customizable, and easy for guests to enjoy while mingling under the tent or near the fire pit.

Pies have a special place in the heart of New England weddings, especially in the fall. Think warm apple, pumpkin, or maple pecan pies served by the slice—or charming mini pies for a grab-and-go option. And of course, no Maine wedding dessert list would be complete without whoopie pies. These soft, sweet treats are a local favorite, and we’ve seen couples offer them in everything from classic chocolate to seasonal pumpkin spice.
Popcorn and caramel corn add a fun, nostalgic touch to fall celebrations, and guests love the crunch and variety of flavors. For a more interactive treat, a s’mores station by the fire pit brings out everyone’s inner kid—complete with graham crackers, chocolate, and toasty marshmallows. It’s such a cozy way to end the evening under the stars.
For couples who want something elegant, handcrafted truffles, chocolates, or flavored honey jars make a beautiful addition to dessert tables or take-home favors. And if your wedding happens to fall near Halloween, a candy buffet filled with autumn favorites is always a playful crowd favorite.

Whether you choose a single sweet showstopper or a dessert smorgasbord that lets guests sample a little of everything, fall weddings at Hardy Farm are the perfect time to celebrate the season’s flavors. It’s those warm, thoughtful touches—rooted in Maine’s charm—that make every celebration here unforgettable.
