“Having picked a wedding venue site unseen seemed like a risky move at the time, but I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions we’ve made!” – Kristie & Sam Shoolman

A few months ago, we offered tips for any couple who are trying to book a wedding venue site unseen. We interviewed and highlighted Kristie and Sam who were living and Australia (at the time) and moving back to Massachusetts. In short, the couple knew they wanted a wedding venue in New England and something that was outdoors to match their adventurous lifestyle. They also knew they wanted a barn with an outdoor ceremony.

We caught up with the Hardy Farm couple just a few weeks after their wedding day,

Our wedding weekend at Hardy Farm was nothing short of magical. When we arrived on Friday afternoon, we were impressed by the immaculate condition of the property and both houses. Needless to say, we were excited.

One of my favorite aspects of Hardy Farm was the ability to have our closest friends and family around us the whole weekend, staying in the house and the lodge. We even organized a morning yoga session, the day of the rehearsal which took place in the barn! This was the perfect way for those staying in the lodge to meet and mingle with those staying in the house. It was a really special morning that we will remember forever!

That evening, sitting around the campfire after the rehearsal dinner with our bridal party and their significant others was such a nice way to unwind. Having people stay on site allowed us to spend quality time with people who traveled far distances (even as far as Australia!)

As for the wedding itself, Hardy Farm provided the perfect setting for the vibe and feel we were going for – rustic while classy, down to earth while still super special.

Getting ready with my bridesmaids in the sunroom was perfect! So much natural light and beauty. Sam and his groomsmen got ready in the lodge, drinking whiskey and playing darts. Our first look in the filed across the street was incredible! I loved the openness and the mountains in the background.

When I think about our wedding ceremony, it brings me to tears. Our closest friends and family, all together in a large area that comfortably fit everyone but somehow still felt so intimate.  The saxophone playing as we entered. The natural beauty of the forest and our rabbi’s resounding voice amongst the trees had everyone in awe. Everything was perfect!

The cocktail hour in the barn, the sunroom and patio was excellent. And the reception in the tent? An absolute blast! The dance floor was packed the entire night.”
