In case you missed it the Pantone Institute declared Classic Blue (PANTONE 19-4052) as the color of the year for 2020 and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Classic blue is elegant in its simplicity and so accessible. It can be found in Maine’s beautiful lakes, the ocean, and the skies just after dusk.
When looking into the color of the year, we found this quote from Leatice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, and feel it could not fit better into the new 2020 we are all navigating:
We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on, Imbued with a deep resonance, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.

There are lots of ways to incorporate classic blue into your wedding, other than the obvious something blue. Below are a few ideas and some photos from recent weddings at Hardy Farm to give you some inspiration.
Bridesmaids and Flower Girls
Blue is one of those colors just about everyone feels like they look good in and there are lots of dress options for it. Having your whole squad dressed in Classic Blue is a big way to have 2020’s color of the year represented at your wedding.
Groom, Groomsmen, and Ring Bearers
Grooms and Groomsmen have often worn blue as a classic color. Classic Blue is lighter than the very typical navy but still easy to find for your wedding party.
Classic Blue Wedding Flowers
There are so many beautiful flowers that have classic blue in them, many of which can be found in our own gardens. Think of flowers like hydrangeas, morning glories, corn flowers, poppies, lupines, orchids, forget-me-nots, and more.
Classic Blue Tablescapes and Placecards
From tablecloths to runners, to candles, to place settings and placecards, classic blue is elegant and easy to bring to your reception tables. We also love these blue goblets we saw at a few weddings last year.
Wedding Cake
Cakes seem to be making a return from the naked cake phase and we have been seeing some really fun and wild cakes getting incorporated into the dessert course. This could be a really fun way to sneak in some Classic Blue, like this stunning evening sky cake by Autumn Nomad.
Invitations and Details
There are lots of other details where you can incorporate classic blue like your invitations, signage, jewelry, shoes, lighting and more. We are sure you will find some fun, elegant, and creative ways to incorporate classic blue into your special day!
One of our Favorite Classic Blue Examples…
Just for fun we thought we would share another one of our favorite classic blue inspirations, our grandson donning classic blue while expertly managing 2 Ben & Jerry’s ice cream cones!
